Tuition will soon go up at East Carolina University but question is, just how much it will go up.
On Friday, the ECU Board of Trustees voted to recommend a tuition increase of 3.6% tuition increase for the 2010 academic year.
That means an in-state undergraduate would pay $2,581.
However, earlier this year, the General Assembly said college’s tuition would go up by 8%.
Right now the General Assembly has the power to authorize all tuition hikes.
“The good theory we believe that the campuses have a better idea of the appropriate tuition levels for their students,” said ECU spokesperson John Durham.
NC system president Erskine Bowls will take the recommendations from all 16 public institutions to the General Assembly and request that each school be allowed to set their own increases.
