AVID Day at ECU Encourages Students to go to College

Greenville, NC - On Tuesday, October 7, 2008 the Office of Professional Development and Student Outreach in the College of Education at East Carolina University will host AVID DAY 2008 in Mendenhall Student Center.
AVID (Advancing Via Individual Determination) goals are to motivate and prepare underachieving students to attend college. This is the second AVID DAY hosted by the College of Education. There will be more than 275, 9th-12th graders from nine different public schools in eastern North Carolina participating.
The activities for the day will include featured speaker Mr. Chad Foster, author of the book Teenagers Preparing for the Real World, sessions on college admissions, scholarships, preparing for academic success, career choices and an overview of the different colleges and schools within the University.
The day will begin at 9:00 am and end at 2:00 pm.
