One school system is requesting a reduction in force.

The Pamlico County Schools superintendent tells us he plans propose laying off 10 employees tonight at the Board of Education meeting.

The layoffs include, three teachers, one teaching assistant, five and a half clerical-custodial positions, one guidance counselor and reduce two 11-month school nurses to 10 months.

These cuts come after the district already cut seven teachers, five t-a’s and one assistant principal.

The superintendent says they’ve delayed reducing staff as long as possible, but can’t wait any longer for the state budget to pass.
