Another fallen hero has come home to the east.
But he didn’t come home without honors.
A dozen Patriot Guard Riders from across the east helped honor 25-year-old Marine Sergeant David W. Wallace III.
His body arrived at Albert Ellis Airport Thursday afternoon.
Wallace who was stationed at Camp Lejeune, died in combat on January 27th while serving in Helmand Province Afghanistan.
Patriot Guard Riders—from as far away as Wilmington—escorted Sergeant Wallace and his family to a wake at a Jacksonville funeral home.
According to the latest figures from Marine Headquarters, 72 Marines have died serving in Operation Enduring Freedom.
While another 1,010 were killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Anyone wishing to send condolences to any relative of a fallen hero can post a comment at patriotguard.org
