RAW VIDEO: Elizabeth City Coast Guard does it again, rescues passenger needing medical attention

The Coast Guard Air Station in Elizabeth City was called out to the waters yesterday, Nov. 29th, after receiving a call from the Explorer of The Seas cruise ship.

The call came in around 11:40 a.m. from a crewmember who reported that a 61-year-old passenger needed medical attention.

The cruise ship was 130 miles east of Cape Hatteras.  Both the passenger and his wife were hosted from the cruise ship into the Coast Guards rescue helicopter.

“When you’re 180 feet above the water, the wind is blowing, and you’ve got a patient in the basket, there is a lot to deal with,“ said Petty Officer 3rd Class Jason A. Dahl, the rescue swimmer who went aboard the cruise ship. “The training I received in the past has definitely paid off.“

The two were flown to Albemarle Hospital in Elizabeth City.  No word on the condition of the passenger.
