DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) - Autopsies are planned for three North Dakota college softball players found dead inside a Jeep that was discovered submerged in a rural farm pond.
Their bodies were found Tuesday, and investigators plan to hold a news conference Wednesday morning.
Investigators believe the Dickinson State University students were on a stargazing trip when two of their friends received distress calls Sunday night. One of the women said the trio was near a lake and water before the call went dead.
The players were identified as 22-year-old Kyrstin Gemar of San Diego; 20-year-old Afton Williamson of Lake Elsinore, Calif.; and 21-year-old Ashley Neufeld of Brandon, Manitoba.
Police don’t suspect foul play. The deaths are still under investigation.
