The two things that got the most response to our weblogs and to Viewer’s Voice was whether we fairly treated Michelle Obama and Sarah Palin when they visited the east on the same day.

But the one that drew the most emotion was when the Pitt County School System suspended a long time first responder with J.H. Rose’s High School football team from that job after the death of a football player.

Bill Grimm had administered a concussion test to Jaquane Waller on Wednesday.  On Friday, Waller played football and he was hit a second time.  He collapsed and was ruled brain dead.

Jcannon wrote, “I feel Bill Grimm did nothing wrong.  How is someone supposed to be able to predict the future?  If they show no signs of trauma or injury, it’s impossible to tell.  Coming from a healthcare professional’s standpoint, I’m behind you Mr. Grimm 100%.”

But Jimb had another take, “In this case, the first responder did everything wrong. He went against 99% of medical standards when he allowed this student athlete to return to practice games after suffering a concussion within 2 days.”

And in politics, we go this email from Sstox the day Michelle Obama and Sarah Palin came to the east to campaign.

Sstox wrote, “I am just curious, I am a registered democrat, but I want to know why it is that Sarah Palin is in Greenville today, which is your home city, and you have nothing on your website about her speech, but you have Michelle Obama who is only the wife of a candidate on there all day even with video!!!!  Just wondering why you are unfair when it comes to Republicans???”

First, we were a little confused as to why a Democrat would be so outraged about fairness to Republicans.
But the fact is we were fair.

We ran information on our website and on our air about both women visiting the east days in advance.

Michelle Obama spoke first, we streamed her speech live and then put the raw video on our web page.

Sarah Palin spoke in the evening, but we streamed her speech live as well and put the raw video on our web page.

I’m not sure how you can get more fair than that.

Thanks to all of you who contacted Viewer’s Voice.
