Viewer’s Voice: “the devil is in the details” edition

There is an old saying that the “devil is in the details,” and it was the details of some of the stories we brought you this week that had some of you concerned.

In Viewers Voice, you talked about animals and missing people most of all.

Lydia wrote,
“Why is it that when you have your Sliver Alerts, you almost never have a picture of the person missing? All you give is a bland description that could be any one. Won’t a picture be more helpful?

Well Lydia, that’s because the pictures and more in-depth information is not always available. As you know, Silver Alerts are for people with cognitive disabilities who may be in danger. So we feel it is most important to get the information out there as quickly as we can, and sometimes families just don’t supply pictures.

On our story of a man charged with cruelty to animals, when investigators found mutilated animals and animal parts on his property, a viewer who simply signed anonymous and angry said they were appalled the case had been reported to animal control a month ago.

“Over that length of time numerous animals were abused, mutilated, and/or killed.  What was so important that this case could not be checked out right away.“

Well viewer, we asked officers that very question. They say they did investigate right away, but they tell us it took them some time to investigate the case fully.

Animal Control face limitations on how much they can do in an animal abuse cases.  It’s not just a matter of arresting someone based on a complaint from a neighbor.
