RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Senator-elect Kay Hagan says she’s considering a focus on military and banking issues when she moves to Capitol Hill next year.
The Democrat said Tuesday she’s looking at assignments to the Senate committees for armed services and banking. Departing Republican Sen. Elizabeth Dole sits on those panels, representing a state with large military installations and a large banking presence.
To begin her prep work, Hagan participated in three events geared toward veterans Tuesday. She attended a briefing at the State Fairgrounds with two of her future colleagues - North Carolina Reps. David Price and Bob Etheridge. She addressed the crowd and heard concerns from veterans struggling to get adequate care.
Hagan unseated Dole in last week’s election.
