President Obama’s plan for health care reform is one step closer to reality.

This afternoon, the Senate Finance Committee approved a remake of the country’s health care system.

The 10-year, $829 billion dollar plan aims to extend coverage to millions more, holding down costs and improving health care for everyone.

Senator Olympia Snowe of Maine was the only Republican to vote yes.

The finance committee was the last of five congressional committees to act.
