RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Police have released 911 recordings that contain the sounds of a gunshot and a relative pleading for ambulances to get to the scene of a quadruple murder-suicide in Fayetteville earlier this week.
On one, a voice can be heard quietly moaning before the sound of a shot. A 911 operator tries in vain to get someone to speak.
On the second recording, a relative urges police and ambulances to get to the house. The relative says he can see blood and bodies, but he can’t get inside.
In the background, a woman can be heard wailing, “I knew it. I knew it.“
Authorities say William Maxwell killed his wife and two teen children before shooting himself Monday night. Friends say Maxwell’s behavior changed in the weeks before the shootings.
