Moderate to heavy rain will continue to fall across the Charlotte-region through Wednesday night and rainfall amounts are expected to reach up to five inches by Thursday morning.

Between 1-3 inches of rain has fallen across the area since midnight.

A Flash Flood Warning - where flooding is imminent or occurring - was issued for western Cabarrus and northern Mecklenburg counties in the Charlotte area until 11:30 a.m.

There has been more than 4 inches of rain along Mallard Creek where the flash flood warning was issued in Mecklenburg County and between 3-4 inches along Buffalo Creek in Cabarrus County.

Around 11 a.m., the DOT workers in Cabarrus County closed Pharr Mill Road near Rocky River Road in Harrisburg and Stallings Road near Quail Hollow Drive due to flooding.
