NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) - Kenya’s attorney general says he is seeking legal advice as to whether he can sue the United States government for revoking his travel visa.
Attorney General Amos Wako spoke at a news conference Wednesday and for the first time acknowledged receiving a travel ban.
American officials said Wako had blocked reform and had contributed to a culture of impunity for not acting against perpetrators of postelection violence in Kenya in 2007.
Wako defended himself Wednesday saying that as attorney general he could not investigate crimes, only prosecute cases that are presented to him.
A U.S. official told The Associated Press that the U.S. has issued 13 warning letters to Kenyan officials and that further visa revocations were likely.
