KIEV, Ukraine (AP) - Ukrainian and Russian news reports say that Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has refused to concede Ukraine’s presidential race to opposition leader Viktor Yanukovych.
The respected Ukrainskaya Pravda Web site reported Tuesday that Tymoshenko told officials with her party that she will “never recognize” the legitimacy of the election. Russia’s ITAR-Tass news agency carried the same reports.
The reports said Tymoshenko has instructed lawyers to mount a legal challenge against the results.
Tymoshenko’s campaign declined to comment on the reports, which did not give their sources.
Yanukovych is leading in the vote count by 3.2 percent with almost all the ballots counted.
International monitors have praised Sunday’s runoff vote as being free and fair.
