Philip Sayblack joined WNCT-TV 9 in 2004, as a Production Technician. He graduated from East Carolina University in 2003, with a Bachelor of Science in Communication, and again in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in English.
Before joining the ranks of WNCT-TV 9, Philip honed his broadcasting skills at ECU's campus radio station, 91.3 WZMB-FM. Philip worked in a number of positions at WZMB, including News Director, Program Director, and Promotions Director. His time at WZMB and WNCT has nurtured his love of news. He hopes to one day put that love of news and his experience in broadcasting, to use in a career with National Public Radio.
In his free time, Philip can be found rehearsing and performing with the Tar River Community Band. He has been a member of the band for over a decade. He began playing with the band before he was even a teenager. He has served as the band's Director of Publicity and Public Relations since August 2003. Philip is also an accomplished violinist. He is also currently trying to broaden his musical horizons by learning to play bass guitar.
Along with being a lifelong musician, Philip is an avid movie buff. When he is not rehearsing or performing with the Tar River Community Band, he can be found in any of Eastern Carolina's theaters or at home watching movies of all kinds. If you want to reach Philip, you can e-mail him at psayblack@wnct.com
