Jim Niedelman - Weekend Edition Anchor

You can find Jim Niedelman anchoring the weekend editions for Eyewitness News 9 and reporting for the news team during the week.

Jim's passion for journalism runs deep. It's been in his blood ever since his eighth grade English teacher introduced him to it. "I knew then what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I love what I do because I honestly learn something new everyday and meet amazing people along the way. It's a job technically, but it doesn't feel like work."

Jim's path to Eastern North Carolina took several turns. Jim grew up in Los Angeles, went to college at the University of California, Berkeley and earned his master's degree from Northwestern University. This isn't Jim's first experience living in Greenville. He started his broadcasting career in Greenville, Mississippi. He also worked in Gainesville, Florida; Allentown, Pennsylvania; Champaign, Illinois; and Las Vegas, Nevada. Jim was honored by the Illinois Associated Press with its Reporter of the Year Award for 2005.

"There are so many important stories to tell. It's our job to make sure they don't fall through the cracks. I am honored and touched by the people who open up and share their life experiences."

Jim also finds plenty of time to enjoy life outside of work. Jim travels when he can and once took a trip around the world that focused on Europe and Southeast Asia. Around town, he loves going to the movies, watching live theater and listening to live music. He's also an avid sports fan. Don't be surprised to find him on a golf course or playing ice hockey at the local rink.
