Just Delete It!

This week we take a look at the "Reverse Pin ATM" e-mail.

The e-mail claims that if you're ever forced to withdraw money from an ATM, you can notify police by entering your pin code in reverse.

It further states that the machine will still give you the money requested, but silently notify police to respond to your location.

It also says that this technology is installed in all ATM machines nationwide.

Just delete it!

Folks, it's true that this technology exists.  It has since 1994.

The developer has, in fact, been trying to sell it to banks ever since. However, little to no banks are currently using it.

As recently as 2004, the state of Illinois passed legislation requesting that the technology be installed. Few to no banks did.

So, we want to know what you think about this subject. Since the technology exists and the concept is sound, do you think that banks should be required to install the “Reverse Pin ATM” technology to protect their customers?

Just answer our web poll below and share your thoughts in the Reader Reaction section of this article.
