ECU celebrates Holocaust Awareness Day.
Dozens of students gathered this morning on the Joyner steps to read the names of those who died in the Holocaust.
A holocaust survivor was also in attendance to give students and supporters a first hand perspective.
According to organizers, holocaust awareness is not only a time to reflect on the past, but address issues that may still go on today.
"There are still atrocities like that happening today,” said Pamela Barclay, Volunteer Services Counselor. And for people to be aware of what's going on in the world around them so that they can really work towards them so that they can really work towards trying to prevent that and educating themselves.”
Memorial luminaries will be held on the campus mall until 10p-m tonight.
