The purpose of Teen Fest is to unite youth across North Carolina to raise awareness of prevention in areas that generally target youth to unsuccessful paths. Teen Pregnancy, Substance Abuse, Teen Violence, Gang Related Activities & Crime, STD & HIV, School Drop Outs, Date Rape, plus a workshop to enhance Self Esteem and Assertiveness, are a few of the Prevention Workshops that will be addressed at the event. Lunch will be provided, topped with entertainment and a youth forum. Door prizes and Goody bags will be given to each youth. This is a big event; many are transported by busloads. Several program directors and youth are looking forward to returning this year. We are already receiving calls about dates and sign up information regarding Teen Fest 2008.
The Young Women’s Outreach Center (YWOC), a private, non-profit organization, will be presenting their 15th Annual Teen Fest at Lenoir Community College on Saturday, May 17, 2008 in Kinston, N.C. from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. May has been proclaimed as “Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month”.
