PRINCEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - A grand jury has indicted the interim town manager and another man with fraud in a case involving funds belonging to the Town of Princeville.

State Justice Department spokeswoman Noelle Talley said the defendants are 60-year-old Sam Knight and 32-year-old Mark Richardson.

Both men were arrested Thursday and later released on bond. They are each charged with 13 counts of obtaining property by false pretense and one count of conspiracy to obtain property by false pretense.

Talley said the state's special prosecutions unit will handle the case.

When reached by The Daily Southerner of Tarboro, Knight declined to comment on the indictment.
