Onslow County School Wins Goodys Good Deed Grant
A school right here in the East is the proud winner of a $10,000 grant! It's all part of the Goodys Good Deed Program we told you about last month. New Bridge Middle School from Onslow County beat out schools across the state and will now get to use the big bucks to better their student’s education.
With a $10,000 grant students say technology is a great way to reach kids. Eighth Grader Samantha South says, "We are always on the computers and we're always doing something with technology so if we put that in school we are more likely to connect with it."
Barbara Edwards, a teacher at New Bridge Middle School says "The students will be able to have virtual e-pals across the ocean; we'll be able to coordinate lesson plans with these teachers."
Students and staff worked hand in hand applying for the grant. Sixth grader Garrett Snyder says, "I think it’s really great because it will benefit the students coming here for the next couple years even after we are gone."
New Bridge Middle School was approved to work with a sister school in Denmark. One school from each state is selected for the Goody Good Deeds grant.
