Superintendent Steve Mazingo says the legislature passed a law during the last general session, telling school systems they need to create a policy banning tobacco. Monday night, the Board of Education did so. It's a 100- percent Tobacco Free Policy. Beaufort County also elected to go tobacco free also starting on August 1st that means no smoking on athletic fields, parking lots, buildings or other facilities. Tobacco is banned all hours, after hours, for everyone in schools.
