East Carteret High Wins National Honors

Students from here in the east are making national news for their knowledge about oceans. East Carteret High School took home eighth place in the National Sciences Bowl Competition in Alaska last week. The team won state and regional competitions to make it to the national level. The school won a trophy, marine science books and money for science equipment. The bowl, aimed at increasing knowledge of oceans and other related areas, has been going on since 1998.
