On August 22, 2008, around 5:30 p.m., New Bern police officers were on foot patrol in the area of Craven Terrace when they noticed two young black males sitting on top of playground equipment in the complex. Officers identified the subjects as Dominic Oneil GRAHAM, 11/22/1991, and Ryshante Devon GRAHAM, 06/02/1990, both of 293 Craven Terrace.
While an officer was speaking with Dominic, he pushed past the officer and attempted to flee the area. He ran a short distance before an officer was able to catch him. While officers were handcuffing Dominic, his brother Ryshante, jumped from the playground equipment and began to approach the officers in a threatening manner. Additional officers on scene stopped Ryshante, and he was also handcuffed and taken into custody.
A search of the suspects resulted in officers seizing marijuana and drug equipment from the brothers.
Ryshante GRAHAM was charged with Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Dominic GRAHAM was charged with Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Resist, Obstruct and Delay. Both were placed in the Craven County jail under a $10,000 bond and scheduled to make a first appearance in court Monday morning.
