RAEFORD, N.C. (AP) - A North Carolina sheriff says a soldier in jail on charges of assaulting his estranged wife is now charged with plotting to kill her and their 4-year-old son.
The Fayetteville Observer reported Friday that 22-year-old Kyle Nye Davis was charged earlier this week. Hoke County Sheriff Hubert Peterkin said Davis had talked to another inmate about the plot and had talked to people outside the jail about it.
Davis was being held on $500,000 after the new charges. His Army unit at nearby Fort Bragg wasn't immediately known.
The sheriff said Davis already had served time for incidents involving his estranged wife and previously had been charged with burglary, assault by strangulation and second-degree kidnapping.
