Police Identify Juvenile In Threat At New Bern High

Detectives with the New Bern Police Department have identified the person believed responsible for the threat against New Bern High School on Monday afternoon.
 
Petitions have been filed against a juvenile in relation to the incident, which caused an emergency evacuation of the school just before 2 p.m. on February 11, 2008. The suspect is 15 years old and faces charges of making a false report concerning mass violence on educational property by calling New Bern High School and making a verbal threat against students. Administrators say they received the call around 1:40 p.m. Monday afternoon.
 
The juvenile was taken into custody February 15, 2008.
 
The New Bern Police Department is committed to Community Policing. Citizens are encouraged to become a “Partner in Policing,” by reporting suspected illegal activity to the New Bern Police Department’s TIPS line at (252) 636-5034 or the Craven County Crime Stoppers line at 633-5141.
