WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) - A Wilmington high school student accused of giving her teacher drug-laced cookies is going to trial.

Prosecutors said 17-year-old Elizabeth Ann Coleman put marijuana into cookies and gave them to a Spanish teacher at Laney High School. An arrest warrant said the teacher ate the cookies and became "mentally incapacitated."

The Star-News of Wilmington reports that Coleman is charged with one felony count of contaminating food with a controlled substance. Her trial date is set for April 17.

Court documents say Coleman has been released without bond into the custody of Ken Coleman. When contacted by the Star-News, she declined comment.
