(AP) - With the clock ticking toward tomorrow's New Hampshire primary, Republican rivals are touting their records and blasting those of opponents.
During a forum on Fox News, Mitt Romney ticked off a list of his accomplishments -- Olympics CEO, governor, venture capitalist. He says you can pick someone to fight for needed change or someone who's actually made it happen.
John McCain chimed in that one reason he wasn't "Miss Congeniality" in the Senate was his success at stopping billions of dollars in pork-barrel spending. As for Romney's accomplishments, McCain noted he led the largest squadron in the Navy "not for profit but for patriotism."
Romney prodded Iowa caucus winner Mike Huckabee about whether spending had increased during his decade as governor of Arkansas. Huckabee avoided a direct answer. Romney zinged him, saying, "You make up facts faster than you can talk sometimes."
The debate got under way as a new USA Today/Gallup poll showed a statistical tie between McCain and Romney for first place.
