(AP) - Barack Obama's campaign has landed a major endorsement in Nevada.
The presidential hopeful has gotten the backing of Nevada's largest labor group, the Culinary Workers Union. Support from the 60,000-member union is seen a big boost for Obama's candidacy. It's also seen as a blow to Hillary Rodham Clinton's campaign, as well as that of John Edwards. He finished third in New Hampshire and is struggling to prevent a two-person race between Obama and Clinton.
A Culinary Union official says Obama has appeal across the diverse ranks of the union, which represents hotel, restaurant and laundry workers in Nevada's casino industry.
At today's news conference in Las Vegas, he took a jab at the mostly white voters who have so far shaped the nominating contests in Iowa and New Hampshire. As he put it, "We're not just Wonderbread here."
