(AP) - President Bush says higher energy prices can hurt countries' economies, and already are affecting American families.
Speaking to reporters in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Bush said paying more at the gas pump hurts and he wants OPEC to put more oil on the world market.
Bush is meeting again with Saudi King Abdullah today and said give Abdullah that message.
A Saudi oil minister, reacting to Bush's comments, declared that his country will raise its oil production when the markets justify it. Saudi Arabia is responsible for almost a third of OPEC's total output.
And the president is putting Iran on notice, after last weekend's ship confrontation in the Persian Gulf. Bush says if Iranians hit any U.S. ship, there will be "serious consequences." And he says he would not care if the attack had been ordered by Iran's government or by some rash Iranian boat captain.
