On January 15, 2008, just before 2 a.m., New Bern police received a call of a robbery at 2006 Pearson Street in the Pembroke neighborhood.
The victim told officers he had been sleeping when he was awakened by a man in his room. He said the suspect was trying to take a hand gun from a nightstand. The victim, who is disabled, said he yelled at the intruder, at which time, the suspect hit him, causing him to fall out of the bed.
As the suspect fled, he pointed the gun at the victim’s in-home nurse, who was at the residence caring for the victim at the time of the attack.
Both victims described the suspect as approximately 5’5”, wearing all black clothing and a mask.
New Bern police continue to investigate the incident, and are working to identify possible suspects at this time. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (252) 633-2020.
