On January 14, 2008, at 10:16 p.m., New Bern police responded to a shooting in the 600 block of Third Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found a male victim suffering from a gun shot wound in his abdominal area. The victim said he was approached by a masked man, who threatened him, demanded money and then shot him. The victim said he fled to 615 Third Avenue, where the home owner let him inside to call police. Officers provided immediate on-scene care to the victim until EMS personnel arrived.
He was transported to Craven Regional Medical Center and later flown by helicopter to Pitt Memorial Hospital. The status of his injuries was not known at the time of this release.
The victim said he was shot by a masked black male wearing a black and white checkered jacket and gloves.
The investigation is ongoing and detectives are following leads to identify the suspect in this case. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at (252) 633-2020.
