As crews continue work on the new Highway 17 bypass in Beaufort County, the city is putting a halt on development. The Washington city council imposed a 121 day moratorium so it can look at permits around the two interchanges, and determine the best use for the land. They plan to hold two community meetings next month to get input on the project. City officials tells Nine on Your Side it is on schedule to be complete in January 2010.
