On January 16, 2008. NC Probation & Parole officers arrested Rakeem Gardner, 19 YOA for parole violations. Gardner was convicted of Assault w/Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury on November 26, 2006 for his role in a June 4, 2005 shooting at 514 Watauga Avenue. He was released under post-release supervision on September 18, 2007. Since his release, he has been observed by Greenville Police on several occasions in violation of his post release agreement. Based on this and other information, NC Probation and Parole Officers identified numerous violations including being in the company of identified gang members and known drug violators, and violating residency, employment, curfew, and other restrictions.
Gardner is being held in the Pitt County Detention Center without bond pending a Parole Hearing on January 23, 2008.
