On January 14, 2008, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a Sex Offense from the Department of Social Services. DSS reported a seventeen year-old male had inappropriate contact with a twelve year-old girl in the Washington area. The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation and conducted several interviews.
On January 17, 2008, Investigator Josh Shiflett applied for and obtained a warrant charging Michael Tyler Miller, age 17, of Harvette Road in Washington with one count of First Degree Statutory Rape. Miller was arrested on January 18, 2008 at his residence. He was taken before Magistrate B. Smith and held under a $10,000 secured bond. Additional charges are pending against Miller.
