On January 20, 2008, around noon, New Bern police officers responded to 1249 Pollock Street for a burglar alarm.
Officers found a man attempting to secure a pad lock on a garage door at Carpets To Go. The man told officers he worked for the business, and had been throwing away work-related trash when he noticed the garage door was open. Upon further investigation, it was confirmed that the man did work for Carpets To Go, but was not authorized to be at the location or entering the closed business.
Officers arrested Gregory Steven ASBY, Sr., 05/16/1974, of Bayboro, for Breaking and Entering with Intent to Commit a Larceny.
He was placed in the Craven County Jail under a $5,000 bond and was scheduled to make a first appearance in court January 22, 2008.
