On January 21, 2007, just after 4 a.m., New Bern police responded to the B and N Convenience Store on 1028 Cedar Street in reference to an alarm going off at the business.
When officers arrived, they found the glass front door of the store smashed in. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken from the store register. Officers searched the business and surrounding area and found the suspect hiding in a crawl space inside the business.
Troy Dramone WHITFIELD, 12/06/1987, of 803 West Street, was arrested and charged with Breaking and Entering, Damage to Real Property and Resist, Obstruct and Delay. WHITFIELD was also charged with Breaking and Entering for a case from December 2007 at a residence at 912 Fort Totten Drive.
He was placed in the Craven County Jail under a $5,000 bond.
