A New Bern man faces drug and weapon charges after police arrested him for selling marijuana Tuesday.
On January 22, 2008, around 5 p.m., officers observed what appeared to be a drug transaction taking place. Officers initiated an investigative stop and found, Jordan POWELL, 04/05/1990, of Plantation Drive and Samantha Nicole CANNON, 05/24/1989, of E. Grantham Road, in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Both were charged with a pending court date of April 3, 2008.
Also detained was Earl Jason JORDAN, 04/02/1984, of 4 Alexandria Circle. JORDAN was found to be in possession of a .38 caliber handgun, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. JORDANwas arrested and charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Sale and Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Possession with the Intent to Sell and Deliver a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
He was placed in the Craven County Jail under a $15,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court January 23, 2008. Because JORDAN is a convicted felon and found in possession of a firearm, he could face additional charges under the federal Project Safe Neighborhoods program aimed at reducing gun crime by career criminals.
