WASHINGTON (AP) - Hillary Rodham Clinton says her husband is just one of many people who are out making "a positive case" for her candidacy.
But she is refusing to speculate about Bill Clinton's suggestion that Barack Obama had put a "hit job" on him. She would only tell The Associated Press that her husband was "thinking about something," and that he should be asked what he meant.
The former president has been campaigning for his wife in South Carolina, which holds its primary Saturday. He said today that when he was running in 2000, he "didn't give a rip" about what was said about him. But he says now that "if you love somebody and you think that they'd be good, it's harder."
