WASHINGTON (AP) - George Bush has less than a year to go before moving on into presidential history.
And a liberal group wants to make sure people don't forget about what it says have been his failures as president.
Americans United for Change holds a Washington news conference today to announce its plans for holding Bush's feet to the fire. It's planning to spend eight and a-half million dollars over the next year on a campaign to make sure he doesn't enjoy a Reagan-style resurgence in the polls and become a sort of conservative icon.
Most of the money will go for ads, including one before Bush's State of the Union address Monday. It's also planning to send a traveling bus tour around the country with exhibits on Iraq, hurricane-ravaged New Orleans and the economic downturn.
Americans United also plans to see if members of Congress are willing to wear buttons Monday night reading "I am a Bush Republican."
