UPDATE: Republicans take aim at Hillary Clinton in Florida debate

»  Comments | Post a Comment

BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) - Five days ahead of the Florida primary, Republican presidential contenders are taking aim at Hillary Clinton.

It happened in a debate broadcast live from Boca Raton on MSNBC. The frontrunners set aside their own squabbles and attacked the Democratic senator as weak on Iraq and certain to raise taxes.

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney said Clinton is "out of step with the American people." Romney also said he couldn't imagine Bill Clinton "in the White House with nothing to do." Senator John McCain and former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani joined in criticizing the New York senator. Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee and Texas Congressman Ron Paul also took part in the debate.

The candidates also generally agreed with the tentative economic stimulus plan reached by Congress and the White House. But they also said it should include additional tax cuts.
