HICKORY, N.C. (AP) - Lynn Spencer is lending a hand to the Easter bunny.
Spencer is sending treats to more than 250 U.S. troops in Afghanistan. Her son is a specialist with the U.S. Army 173rd Airborne Infantry.
Spencer told the Hickory Daily Record that she got the idea of sending goodies to his division with her friends on the Web site scrapbook.com. Along with about 30 other people, she sent paint cans filled with goodies to the unit for Christmas.
Now, she's preparing between 250 and 300 treat bags filled with goodies for her son and others in his division. Spencer said she thought about doing baskets, but the few that were sent to her to be shipped overseas didn't ship too well, so she will repackage them into bags. She said she can also fit more into the boxes.
Spencer said she would like to send goodies for Memorial Day, the Fourth of July and Christmas.
