Fighting Crime From Your Cell Phone

»  Comments | Post a Comment

The Greenville Police Department is trying a new tool for fighting crime.  They’re called "Citizen Alerts” and they are sent out in the form of emails, text, or pages.

The goal is to get the word out as soon as possible to help inform the public and catch criminals.

Corporal. Kip Gaskins withe the Greenville PD, said, "Well send out things that we think of as public safety concerns or messages were trying to get out to the public such as crimes that just occurred maybe where we need some input from the citizens right away or either like missing persons.”
