ANKARA, Turkey (AP) - Kurdish protesters have been lobbing stones at police and soldiers in southeastern Turkey today.
It's the fourth straight day of clashes. Two people have been killed and dozens injured.
A private news agency is reporting that police fired into the air and used tear gas and truncheons to break up a crowd of demonstrators. The military also deployed commando units in the town. Almost all shops closed and residents fled to their homes.
The news agency reports a small bomb explosion slightly injured three police officers.
In Istanbul, tens of thousands of Kurds have been celebrating a spring festival, some using the occasion to rally for Kurdish autonomy.
Kurdish rebels have been fighting for autonomy in Turkey's southeast since 1984. The conflict has killed tens of thousands of people.
