NEW YORK (AP) - It's not your grandmother's Easter bonnet.
One girl posing for photos on Manhattah's Fifth Avenue today described herself as the "Statue of Peep-erty" -- with a three-foot-tall Statue of Liberty hat made of green Peeps.
Then there's Nancy Woram, who spent a week making hats to be modeled by her four teen-aged daughters. Each was a carrot made of orange chenille covering a wire frame. Attached to them were styrofoam eggs, stuffed bunnies and crepe-paper flowers.
It was all part of today's Easter Parade in New York. It's not a parade, really -- just a chance for people to dress up in fancy or outrageous Easter attire and mill about Fifth Avenue while people take their picture.
The woman who made the hats for her girls says, "It's fun making people smile."
