Odd Egg Out

On Easter Sunday, many in the east got Easter Eggs, but one family says they got more than they bargained for.
When Stephen and Terry Atkinson told their neighbors they were the proud owners of three pet chickens many neighbors raised eyebrows.
Once again they're gaining popularity.
Meet Amber, Molly and Honey. The most popular members of the Atkinson family in their neighborhood.
"We went and told everybody we were bringing chickens around and they all started laughing and thought it was funny and as it turned out they all started coming everyday to see how the chickens were doing,” said owner Stephen Atkinson.
Since last October, the Atkinson's noticed these hens weren't laying any eggs.
Now they lay about a dozen a week. And until recently, with no shell either.
"What you see is the brown egg through the membrane and the yoke and the white in the second egg without the calcium on it,” Stephen said.
A rarity that's getting not only plenty of attention but comments.
"It looks like a water balloon and so of course they were thrilled they were the experts. They thought of that before we even found out about it,” Tammy said.
They believe it’s due to a lack of calcium.
It's a mighty egg that this family won't be adding to their diet.
