NASHUA, N.H. (AP) - A senior adviser to Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential campaign has agreed to plead guilty to drunken driving in New Hampshire.
Police say Sidney Blumenthal will enter the plea because the arresting officer in the case was ordered to Iraq, making trial on a more serious charge impossible.
The former White House adviser to President Clinton has been serving as an unpaid adviser to Senator Clinton's Democratic campaign. He was arrested and charged with aggravated drunken driving and driving 70 miles per hour in a 30-mile-per-hour zone on January 7th, the day before the New Hampshire primary.
Blumenthal will have his license suspended for 16 months and also have to pay a fine and penalty fee when he's sentenced in Nashua District Court on April 18.
