PITTSBURGH (AP) - Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey is endorsing Barack Obama for president.
At a rally in Pittsburgh, Casey told a boisterous crowd that Obama is the one person qualified to lead the nation in a time of division at home and danger around the world.
Casey's endorsement could help the presidential candidate make inroads with white working-class voters in the Keystone State who are known as "Casey Democrats."
Recent polls in the state show Hillary Rodham Clinton with a lead. One poll this month had Clinton up by 12 points.
Pennsylvania's is not only the next but also the biggest single prize left in the Democratic race. The April 22nd primary will allocate 158 delegates.
Asked about Casey's endorsement of Obama, a Clinton spokesman said the campaign is proud of the support it does have, including Governor Ed Rendell's endorsement.
