Obama releases first television ad for NC primary

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Barack Obama's presidential campaign is launching a statewide television ad in North Carolina.

Campaign officials said the ad began running statewide Friday. It features the Democratic candidate saying companies that create jobs in the U.S. should get tax breaks - not companies that shutter plants and move jobs overseas.

Both Obama and Democratic rival Hillary Rodham Clinton held campaign events in North Carolina this week. Obama national communications director Robert Gibbs said he expects Obama to return to North Carolina soon, but he didn't provide details.

The campaign plans to open 13 field offices in North Carolina and has held nine local organizational campaign meetings in the past two days.

Obama currently leads Clinton in delegate votes. North Carolina's primary election is May 6 with 115 delegate votes at stake.
