It takes money to keep roads safe and drivable and it looks like the east is getting a big boost.
19 counties have been awarded more than 58 million dollars from the N.C. Board of Transportation.
The money will go towards highway improvement projects.
6 of those counties are right here in the east.
Duplin, Greene, Lenoir, Onslow, Washington and Wayne counties are among the 19 counties chosen.
The funds will also go towards bridge work.
